As a result, they are extremely high in energy content and absorbed by the body at an absurdly rapid rate. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is a reason that increased consumption of these foods has been linked to an increased risk of<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC2869506\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">weight gain and diabetes<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 because they are not very good for you\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>3.) Dried Fruit<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At first look, dried fruit looks like the perfect snack. I mean, its fruit, right? This is also what dries it out and gives it that firm and chewy texture.<\/p>\n<p>It is also what gives it its unbelievably sweet flavor\u2026<\/p>\n<p>So again, I recommend you steer clear.<\/p>\n<h3>5.) As a result, their consumption has been linked to increases in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/22570770\">inflammation, disease, and illness.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Which I assume you probably don\u2019t want?<\/p>\n<p>In my opinion, the best replacements here are olive oils and coconut oils, as they have not undergone any refining, and therefore do not contain any nasty chemicals.<\/p>\n<h3>Take-Home Message<\/h3>\n<p>Sometimes it&#8217;s in your best interest to not take everything at face value \u2013 so don\u2019t assume that every \u201chealthy\u201d food is actually healthy.
