They work the layer of muscle that is hiding BEHIND your six-pack and are not easy to isolate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You may have never heard of this technique, but the art of stomach vacuuming has been around for a long time!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yogis did them in India CENTURIES ago, but they became \u201cfamous\u201d in the fitness space by Arnold Schwarzenegger.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>WHAT MAKES STOMACH VACUUMS SO SPECIAL?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To better understand&#8230; let me give you a quick ab anatomy lesson.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your abs are divided into different muscle groups. For the purpose of this article, you really only need to know about one of them. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>TRANSVERSE ABS<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are your inner ab muscles. They are not talked about very much and don\u2019t get much work when you do typical ab exercises like sit-ups and crunches (unless you are using this technique WHILE performing them.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your transverse abs are VERY IMPORTANT. They run horizontally under your abs\/obliques and sort of help hold everything together. It kind of acts like a corset and ultimately helps keep your waistline tight.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b><i>The vacuum targets inner abs specifically.<br \/>\n<\/i><\/b><b><i>Not many other exercises can do this.\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>HOW TO PERFORM STOMACH VACUUMS<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vacuums take a little practice&#8230; but once you figure it out and do them daily \u2026 the changes can be pretty drastic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are doing them right, they WILL NOT be as easy as they look!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They will BURN and leave your abs really SORE!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To execute:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take a deep breath<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Exhale all of the air out of your lungs completely.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Expand the chest and bring the belly button into the SPINE.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Visualize your belly button trying to touch your backbone!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You are doing an ISOMETRIC HOLD. This iS NOT the same as holding your breath.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can (and should) breathe while doing these. Again .. this takes practice!\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><i>Having a VISUAL of someone doing vacuums IN ACTION helps. Check out our video above!\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For your first few attempts, try holding the vacuum for at least 10-20 seconds. Then advance up in time\u2026 30sec, 45sec, 1min, 90 seconds &#8211; and so on.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You want to hold as long as you can before \u201crelaxing\u201d and setting up for another round. Whatever your MAX time is .. do at least 3 sets of that time .. at least once a day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i>The best thing about the vacuum is that you can do them anywhere!!<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While you brush your teeth<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While you are in the shower.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While you are stuck in traffic.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you are sitting at your desk.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>Just get them in \u2026 Every. Single.
