But know this: There are simple, effective techniques that CAN help you feel better, perform better, and just BE better from the moment you wake up. And best of all, they don’t cost a thing!

Step 1. Set a Consistent Wake-Up Time
It’s easy to think that whether we’re a “morning person” or a “night owl” is as deep-seated and hard-wired as, say, our hair color. But it isn’t!
If you’re looking to build a repeatable, sustainable morning routine, it starts with knowing what time your morning starts! That means setting a more-or-less consistent wake-up time… and sticking to it! (To be clear, setting a consistent bedtime routine is the other side of this coin!)
In the early going, this isn’t going to be perfect. So be forgiving with yourself! This is a long-term project that will really only begin to pay off as you do it for weeks, months… even years.

Step 2. Use Your First Minutes Wisely
Pop quiz: What’s the first thing you do when you wake up? For plenty of people, it’s reaching for a phone and scrolling through the night’s worth of posts and pics. Your morning deserves better!
Vince recommends using those precious first few minutes intentionally. Map out your day, preferably in a notebook… using an actual pencil or pen!
That detail may seem minor, but the physical act of writing things down has been shown to increase how well we remember them. Use this to your advantage!
Just take a minute or two (or more, if you’ve got it) to visualize your day: the tasks, the workouts, the meals… the whole thing. Trust us, when you get good at it, this is a powerful technique!

Step 3. Get Moving!
Take it from our V Shred coaches who hear this on a daily basis: Morning workouts can totally be a game-changer!
They’re great for fat-loss, sure, but they can also help you face the day with more energy, knowing that you’ve done some solid work in support of your goals.
However… they don’t happen by magic! To make them part of your routine, you have to protect them. That means:
- Workout clothes picked out and ready to go
- Equipment and workout space clear and organized
- Water, food, and any supplements ready to go
- Knowing what workout you're going to do
Those last two are crucial! Don’t find yourself rummaging around for BCAAs or Protein trying not to wake your family up. Have them out and where you can find them!
Similarly, don’t freestyle your morning workouts. Have a plan! And if you’re not doing a full “workout,” the morning is still a perfect time to simply go for a walk!
